Happy New Year news from Aimee Liu
January 1, 1970Dear Friends,
Happy New Year!
I hope your holidays have been warm and relaxing, with plenty of good books to keep you company.
As we head into 2008, I wanted to send you a couple of updates. First, my book GAINING is now available in paperback, with an all-new reading group guide. Ask for it at your favorite bookstore, or order at Amazon.com (http://www.amazon.com/Gaining-Truth-About-Eating-Disorders/dp/0446694827/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1199072465&sr=8-1).
Second, a reminder that the fabulous anthology, FOR KEEPS: Women Tell the Truth About their Bodies, Growing Older, and Acceptance, is also available. Edited by Victoria Zackheim, this gem of a collection includes powerful essays by Abby Frucht, Ellen Sussman, Elizabeth Rosner, Caroline Leavitt, Susan Ito, and many others, including me! Please do check it out.
Also, I recently became a founding author of a great new website for readers and writers: redroom.com, the "online home of the world's greatest writers." On redroom.com, you can view my author bio, published works, blog, book reviews, videos, and podcasts, as well as find out more about good causes I support. In fact, once the site has paid advertising, just viewing my page will send a portion of the proceeds to these causes.
Today, I'm asking you to go to the site, redroom.com, and become a member (it's free). Click "Join Now" on the homepage or "Join" in the upper right corner of the page. Then select your unique Red Room username. They encourage you to use your real first and last name; I've done so. Or, if you don't have time to join now, sign up for the Red Room email list. You can do this quickly at www.redroom.com/newsletter.
Once you've joined, please comment on my blog and media content, helping build a community around my work. If you have time, you can even write reader reviews of my books. Of course you can do this for other writers on the site as well, adding to the literary conversation at large. If you have any questions, contact the member services manager at firstname.lastname@example.org.
They're happy to help you as they helped me build my author page. You can be in on the ground floor of building this community. Feel free to forward this invitation to your friends, family, and colleagues, too. And if you are an author, once you've joined redroom.com (again, it's free), you can apply to create an author page like mine.
Thanks so much for your support.
Wishing you health, peace, and passion in 2008!
